Description
As with a lot of my Vintage pieces, I try to find items that are collectable and will increase in value, as well as being a real pleasure to wear. These include signed pieces by some of the great makers of costume jewellery. One of the really good names in this area in more recent times is Sarah Coventry. The company advertised its jewellery as being “for the woman who dares to be different,” and this one certainly fits that bill !. It is made up of 5 bunches of grapes with a vine leaf on each one, with goldtone colouring and black painted enamel leaves – it’s just so different and very collectable! The bracelet is in very good condition with a little light rubbing on the back. It is 7″ long by 3/4″ wide (18 x 2 cms) with a firm, strong clasp, which is signed copyright ‘Sarah Cov’ . The company was formed in 1949 and called after the owner’s grand daughter the the town he emigrated from. His clever marketing like giving pieces away as prizes on American game shows made Sarah Coventry one of the most popular jewellery brands of the mid-20th century. Today, its pieces from the 1960s and ’70s are especially prized by costume-jewelry collectors.
There is only one, so if you love it, buy it!
